Q : I want my new highlights to turn out great. Can I get some tips on how to do this?

A : Instead of a dramatic hair change, having strategically placed streaks of lighter, coloured hair creates a subtle difference while adding more character to monotone hair. Check out these five tips to ensure your highlights look their best:
♥ Tip 1:
Highlights should be two or three shades lighter than the base colour.
♥ Tip 2:
Colour with your hair parted as you’d normally wear it as your highlights should sit on the top layer of your hair.
♥ Tip 3:
Avoid red shades if you’ve got a pinkish skin tone. Those with a yellow skin tone should stay away from orange-based colours while those with olive skin should opt for lowlights to complement their skin tone.
♥ Tip 4:
As the sun lightens hair, limit exposure to 30 minutes daily. This way, you can avoid over-drying your tresses.
♥ Tip 5:
If you’re doing your highlights at home, add a dash of baking soda to your colour mix for better results and use a toothbrush for more control.
Make your highlights last longer with these:
