Salon professionals and local celebrities showed their support at this empowering event in 1 Utama recently.
“Hairdressers Against AIDS” is a worldwide programme sponsored by the L’Oreal Foundation Enterprise and Unesco encouraging salon professionals to reach out to their customers and communities to help educate and prevent the spread of HIV. To date, 3 million hairdressers from 30 countries have participated in this AIDS awareness campaign.
To mark the 10th anniversary of Hairdressers Against AIDS Campaign, L’Oreal Malaysia and their supportive salon partners have collaborated with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation to organize a Charity Hair Cut Drive from 25th to 27th November, 2011 to raise funds for children infected with HIV.
Held at 1 Utama, this three-day event was a commendable feat that combined hairdressing skills with star power; L’Oreal’s 5 Artistic Ambassadors; Albert Nico, Andy Chan, Kevin Woo, Miko Au and Simon Koh snipped and styled the hair of celebrity models such as Jojo Struys, Chelsia Ng, Genevieve Sambi, Atilia and Chermaine Poo while participating salons devoted their time to offering charity haircuts to the public at a minimal fee of RM15.
Local radio personalities such as Lexie Rodriguez, Mynn, Fiqrie and Jaydee showed their support for this event by getting their hair cut for charity. The crowd at this event were treated to music performances by Chelsia Ng and Hunny Madu as well as special appearances by New Tide/New Icon for Him Magazine’s Hottest Hunks in Malaysia, who had their hair styled by the salon professionals here.
This noble event proved to be an enlightening experience for everyone who played their part in creating AIDS awareness and improving the lives of children afflicted by this disease. female would like to congratulate L’Oreal Malaysia for their selfless efforts!
